Vegas Downtown Blackjack

When playing Vegas Downtown Blackjack you can bet from as little as $1 to a maximum of $200.

This game is played with two standard decks of cards. All decks have 52 cards, and all cards are re-shuffled after each hand. In order to win the total value of the cards in your hand must be as close to 21 as possible without going over. The player closest to 21 wins the hand. You are not allowed to play multiple hands at a time. You have a Blackjack if you are dealt an Ace and a ten valued card. Blackjack is the best hand and will beat all other hands.

When you win a hand at Vegas Downtown Blackjack, the house pays these ratios:

Winning by a Blackjack pays 3-to-2. This means that if your betting amount is 30 credits and you get a Blackjack you will receive 45 (your win amount) + 30 (your initial bet)= 75 credits.

If you beat the house but do not have a Blackjack the pay ratio is 1-to-1. For example if your betting amount is 50 credits and you beat the house you will be paid 50 (your win amount) + 50 (your initial bet) = 100 credits.

Insurances are paid at a ratio of 2-to-1. This means that if you have an insurance of 20 credits (half your initial bet) and the dealers gets a Blackjack, you will win 40 credits but loose your initial bet.

Vegas Downtown Blackjack Game Rules- General Rules:

  • This game is played with two standard decks of cards. All decks have 52 cards, and all cards are re-shuffled after each hand;

  • This is an American hole card game. That means that the dealer is allowed to look at his face down card whenever his face up card is an Ace. If the dealer gets a Blackjack, the player loses;

  • Blackjack is the best hand and will beat all other hands;

  • Face cards (Jacks. Queens and Kings) are valued at 10;

  • Aces are valued either as 1 or 11;

  • You are not allowed to draw more than nine cards. If you have been dealt a total of 11 cards and the total value of your cards is still under 21, you must stand and let the dealer play his hand;

  • The dealer will always hit if the total value of his cards is 17.

Betting and Payout Rules:

  • If the dealer busts the player always wins;

  • If your first two cards are an Ace and a ten valued card, you have a Blackjack. This is the best hand in the game and it pays 3-to-2;

  • A push is when the total value of the cards in your hand is equal to the hand of the dealer. The game is a tie and you get your initial bet back;

  • In case both player and dealer have Blackjack the game is also pushed;

  • If you double or split your hand and the dealer gets a Blackjack, all your wages are lost.

Splitting Rules- If you are dealt a pair, or two cards with the same denomination or value you can split your hand. You will have two hands to play, but will also have to double your initial bet by placing another bet on your second hand.

The bet on your second hand must be equal to the bet on your first hand. If you are dealt a ten or a Face card and an Ace, it will be considered 21, because it is a split hand and it will be beaten by a Blackjack. You area allowed to split your hand only 3 times, thus having four different hands to play. If you split two Aces, you will only get one extra card per Ace, and then you have to stand.

Double Down Rules - after being dealt the first two cards you may double your betting amount. The double bet is equal in value to the initial bet. You are allowed to double a split hand.

Insurance Rules- just as in standard Blackjack, if the dealers face up card is an Ace and you think he will get a Blackjack, you can use half your initial bet to buy insurance. When you have insurance the outcome of the game (win or lose) does not depend on your initial bet.

If you have insurance but the dealer doesn't get a Blackjack you lose your insurance credit and the game goes on according to the rules. If you are right and the dealer gets a Blackjack your insurance bet has a win ratio of 2-to-1. You may insure only your initial hand.

Vegas Downtown Blackjack Terms:

21-the total value of the cards in your hand amounts to 21. Note that if you have a Ten of Diamonds, a Three of Spades and an Eight of Clubs, the total value of your cards is 21, but this is not a Blackjack. Also remember that Blackjack will always beat a 21.

Advanced Blackjack Strategy Table- You have the option of using the AutoPlay. Its default strategy is already set to give the player an edge. At the Advanced Blackjack Strategy Table you can set the default AutoPlay strategy. You can keep the preset one or make your own.

Blackjack - When you are dealt an Ace a 10 or any other card equal to a ten you have a Blackjack. Blackjack is the best hand and will always win. You cannot win against a Blackjack; you can only push the game.

Bust- If the total value of the cards dealt to you exceeds 21 you are bust. You will lose your hand and your betting amount.

Denomination- The value attributed to the cards in the deck. Remember that Jacks, Queens and Kings are valued at 10, and Aces are either 1 or 11.

Double Down- If the total value of your hand is 9, 10 or 11 you have the option of doubling your bet. This will give you the chance of winning up to four times your initial betting amount. The catch is that after doubling you are only dealt one more card, and with this hand you must beat the dealer.

Hit- If your hand is not good enough to beat the dealer you can ask him for another card. The dealer will give you another card, but be careful not to go over 21.

Hole Card- One of the dealer's first two cards. This card is face down and only the dealer knows its denomination.

Insurance- When the dealer's first up card is an Ace and you think he will have a Blackjack you can put half your betting amount aside as insurance. If you also have a Blackjack you do not need insurance, the game is pushed.

Push- The total value of your hand is equal to the dealer's hand. You will get your initial bet back.

Split- If you are dealt a pair (not to cards of the same value) you can split your hand. You will have two hands to play, but will also have to double your initial bet by placing another bet on your second hand. The bet on your second hand must be equal to the bet on your first hand. Split hands are played according to standard Blackjack rules.

Stand- If you are happy with your hand and confident that you can win you can stand. You will not be dealt any more cards. After the dealer plays his hand the player closest to 21 wins.

Value- Each card in the deck has a certain denomination. For example face cards are counted as10, and Aces are 1 or 11.
